Consulting Practice: Willdan Financial Services
Introduction
While writing is and always will be my passion, I do maintain a day job as a financial consultant. I received my MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago in 1984, and I have 35 years of experience as an international financial expert to the utility industry. I have completed more than 400 water, wastewater, electric, gas, solid waste and stormwater rate/cost of service studies and long-term financial plans for clients in the USA and five sovereign nations in the Pacific region. I have also served as an expert witness in state court, federal court and before several public utility commissions, and have given dozens of lectures and presentations before professional associations. I am generally recognized as a national expert in water utility ratemaking and financial planning.
One of my proudest accomplishments is designing the financial plans that have helped bring water resources to villages in Pacific nations. More than seventy percent of the world’s households do not have running water, and my projects have resulted in thousands of people receiving this service for the first time. I still travel overseas several times a year for these projects, which I intend to continue as long as I can.
My consulting experience experience includes positions with Deloitte and Touche, Reed-Stowe & Company and Arthur Andersen. In 1997, I co-founded Economists.com LLC, which grew to become an international consulting firm with offices in Dallas and Portland, Oregon. Willdan acquired Economists.com in 2015, and I now serve as Vice President and Managing Principal.
